Next Regular Board Meeting is Thursday, February 1st

The next regular board meeting of the Penn Wynne Civic Association will be Thursday, February 1st at 7:30pm in the Group Meeting Room of the Penn Wynne Library. It is open to the public as always.

This meeting features two guests:

Amy Norr of Start School Later Lower Merion will speak briefly and take questions about changing school start times.

David Barrett of Friends of Wynnewood Valley Park will discuss a possible service project at the park to be performed by the 5th grade class of PWES in May.

2014 Penn Wynne 4th of July Parade & Carnival

Slide1The Penn Wynne 4th of July Parade and Carnival has been RESCHEDULED FOR SUNDAY, JULY 6TH. The schedule is below.

Parade judging for the most patriotic bicycles, tricycles, wagons, strollers, skaters/scooters, walkers will begin at 9:30am. Our theme is the US Constitution, which is celebrating its 225th anniversary this year!

The parade will begin at 10am, and wind through the neighborhood to Penn Wynne Park, where there will be music, food, activities, games & prizes (see poster below). Penn Wynne Civic Association members are entitled to two free all-activities passes! Additional all-activities passes are just $5 apiece.

Here’s the tentative schedule for the event:

July 5th, 5:30 – 7:30pm, Penn Wynne Fire House
Parade registration and activities pass pre-sale

July 6th, 9am – final parade registration & pre-sale

9:30am – parade judging

10am – Parade begins

10:30am – Penn Wynne Park – Awards Ceremony

11am – neighborhood kickball game

11:30am – water balloon toss

12pm – Limbo contest

12:30pm – Justin Weber YoYo performance

1pm – last ride

Summer Hummer

The 16th Anniversary Penn Wynne Summer Hummer is Scheduled for Thursday, June 12th from 6:30 – 8:30pm at Wynnewood Valley Park!

The Penn Wynne Civic Association is thrilled to welcome the legendary Lower Merion High School Jazz Band to Wynnewood Valley Park for the 16th Anniversary Penn Wynne Summer Hummer! This is one of the last stops for the band before they leave for their summer concert tour of Italy, so don’t miss them! In addition to the great music, there will be food from neighborhood favorites Vernalicious and Boston Style Pizza, summertime treats from Fruji and Rita’s Water Ice, and lots of great raffle prizes! Please join us! (This event will be held rain or shine. Rain location: Church of the Holy Apostles)

Penn Wynne 4th of July Parade & Carnival!

The 4th of July parade & carnival is our signature event! The parade will begin at the Penn Wynne Fire House (1440 Manoa Rd) at 10am (with bicycle judging at 9:30am), and follow the fire truck to Penn Wynne Park (1214 E. Manoa Rd), where there will be music, food, carnival games, pony rides, a moon bounce, face painters, spin art and lots of prizes! Hope to see you there!cropped-header-4.jpg

Penn Wynne Earth Day

PennWynne ED 2014 copyThe 2nd Annual Penn Wynne Earth Day is Sunday, April 27th from 1 – 4pm at Wynnewood Valley Park, and it will be bigger and better than ever! Riverbend will be back with animals & stream walks, and the Pennsylvania Academy of Natural Sciences will be on hand to talk about insects! Sweet Mabel will return with another great craft activity, Wolf PAC will share a preview of “Shrek the Musical”, there will be scavenger hunts and gardening activities and Tesla will be showing off one of their amazing electric cars. Plus, there will be food (Vernalicious and KOV ice cream) and music, and lots of information about clean energy, recycling and community supported agriculture. To top it off, Penn Wynne Green is sponsoring a Freecycle where you can donate your old treasures or find new ones! Hope to see you there!
